ScenTronix has launched a revolutionary product that merges art, artificial intelligence, and personalization: the Algorithmic Perfumery machine. This innovative scent diffuser machine represents a new frontier in the fragrance industry, using AI to design unique, custom-blended perfumes for each user.
The process is an interactive experience. Customers complete a questionnaire about their personality and aspirations, which the machine’s AI analyzes to formulate three distinct fragrances from a palette of 54 core scent components. For $50, users receive three 5-milliliter bottles of their custom creation along with the formula, which they can later modify online. This approach, pioneered by ScenTronix founders Anahita Mekanik and Frederik Duerinck, is built on the philosophy that “everyone is a creator,” democratizing the once-inaccessible art of perfumery.
Beyond a product, the machine facilitates meaningful human connection. Company head Anahita Mekanik recounts stories of families bonding over the questionnaire process and individuals rediscovering powerful memories through their custom scents. With a reported success rate of 90-95%, the machines have already served over 180,000 people worldwide.
The Algorithmic Perfumery machines are currently installed in locations including the company’s Copenhagen lab, the Museum of the Future in Dubai, and The Fragrance Shop in London, and are also deployed at festivals and corporate events.
